Lazer Broz
As long as I can remember, my Dad has been playing in country bands pretty exclusively. There was a long period of time from about the mid-nineties to a couple years ago when he did not play in a band at all. Managing hearing aid businesses and traveling in a band are diametrically opposed things: one devoted to the degradation of hearing quality, and the other to filling them with cybernetic hear-gear. He's had some pretty good gigs set up recently with his primary gospel-rock-old-guy-vehicle The Copperheads.
For one of my Christmas presents, I asked for recordings of some of his older bands. The one I got was from one that my Dad very much did not enjoy being in, The Razor Boys from 1983. It kind of surprised me, because the band is New Wave and has a GIRL singing in it. I still haven't completely come to try to understand or think much about these songs, but my Dad seems pretty embarrassed of them, in spite of shredding on all the tracks (in a sense!).
Here they are:
Livin' With the Clocks - A meditation on our fast-paced lifestyles here in the tumutious year of 1983.
Havin' a Meltdown - YOU KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE
My Aquarium - A daring song about a fishtank.
Sky High - Girl Song.
Night or Day - Don't really know.
That was exhausting.
How I spent my Christmas.
